Permanent Culture in Times of Disruption: Why Permaculturists Need to Think Beyond Food

Baganihan Collective

Thinking beyond food: risk, mutual aid and the systems that help communities navigate disruption.

About this past event

Permaculture gives us powerful tools for food security and ecological resilience — but communities don't survive crises through agriculture alone. This talk explores risk management, mutual aid, physical security, and indigenous practices as essential dimensions of permanent culture.

Hubert Posadas is a Permaculture Aid Specialist and Risk and Community Security Practitioner with deep experience in community preparedness, mutual aid systems, and indigenous approaches to resilience. He serves as Convenor of the Baganihan Collective, where he works at the intersection of permaculture design and community protection.

A Talk on the Importance and Need for Seed Sovereignty

Baganihan Collective

Lee of ethic explores seeds, cultural memory and the communities working to protect them.

About this past event

A graduate of the Rocky Mountain Seed Alliance Seed School Teacher Training (2018), Lee has spent years working across Southeast and South Asia's grassroots seed networks — from indigenous communities in militarized zones to UN-level policy spaces advocating for seed commons and farmer rights. Founder of ethic (Earth, Technology, Human Inspired Collaborations), a Global South initiative working at the intersection of ecological intelligence, technology governance, and community sovereignty. An engineer, poet, artist, and musician — Lee teaches not just the science of seeds, but their cultural memory and the politics of who gets to hold them.
